For those of us on this side of the pond, Jason Hansing—'Hollywood' or 'HWood'—has always been less a conventional golfer and more a magnificent, rambling force of nature. His career is not a meticulously manicured English rose garden, but a sprawling, overgrown Colorado wilderness, full of glorious peaks, treacherous ravines, and endless, colorful drama involving drainage ditches.

What truly captivated the SHGA public, however, was his wonderfully non-conformist attitude. Hwood has been the antithesis of the country club golfer, becoming a folk hero for his "grip it and rip it" swing, his Show Off  beverage, his rather odd diet, and his refusal to conform.

• The Swing: A short, self-taught backswing that seemed to vary more than the Colorado atmosphere. Struggling to find form for much of his career, until 2025 where he came out of nowhere to claim his first SHGA Conductor's Cup Championship with a clean sweep, 4 victories.

• The Antics: Off-course, the fun was often eclipsed by chaos. His life became a public battle with drainage ditches, which led to multiple stints in etiquette class, and a staggering history of being a moosh—reportedly never getting a game right in the group chat. His later career, particularly on the SHGA, has been a softer coda to his earlier tumult, but the core of the man—the big-talking, unpredictable, and ultimately human 'HWood'—endures as one of golf's greatest adventures. Can he repeat in 2026?
